Employment Outlook and Salary Information The number of Illinois esthetician jobs is expected to increase 38.23% over the ten year period ending in 2022. This increase is 4.6 times greater than that for occupations as a whole in the state. The Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES )expects that 632 new esthetician jobs will become available over this period. Seventy-seven jobs a year are expected to become available on average in Illinois. Nearly 82% of them are expected to be from growth in the field. The rest will come from the replacement of workers exiting the field. The Chicago area had particularly high levels of esthetician employment. It had the third highest level of any metropolitan area in the country according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Non-metropolitan areas in Illinois can also be good sources of esthetician jobs. The northwest Illinois non-metropolitan area had the fourth highest esthetician employment level of any such area in thecountry. The median 2103 esthetician salary in Illinois was $26,276 according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES). Estheticians entering the workforce averaged $19,631 a year, while those with experience earned $35,991 a year on average. |
